All The While She Cleaned Her Lettuce.

She was the one who always

danced.

In her mind she looked like a swan or a devil on the

dance floor.

Others would scoff, stare and point. Sometimes fill her with shame as they tried to

yank her off the dance floor.

One day a boy she liked; told her she was the best dancer he had ever seen. She believed him and she smiled.

The changing of years, her smile waned, she hardly remembered the last time she had

danced.

She had tried one time and felt awkward, shy and embarrassed and, in tears, she left the

dance floor.

Out of the blue she started dancing, feeling so good and right. She cried, “No one can

yank her off the dance floor.”

Today a boy she liked had told her she was the best dancer he had ever seen. She smiled. She believed him.

This came to me today while cleaning my garden lettuce! I could have left it untitled!! Hope you like it. I pretty much had it in about twenty minutes. Funny what one thinks about while cleaning lettuce!

  1. Sweet. My oldest friend from gradeschool was visiting this month. There weren’t any retreatants here so we cranked up the 80’s dance music and danced under the stars on the hillside. I totally forgot how therapeutic that is.

    1. Every Sunday morning I get up early because there is a local station that plays the hits from the 70’s and I dance all the while making pancakes for Thor. Of course, being the teenager that he is, he just rolls his eyes and says, “oh no, here we go again.”
