I am Art Trelstad’s Daughter. I know the proper way of how to wrap up a garden hose. I remember the lessons I received every early summer when it was time for watering the grass or the flowers. My dad had a particular way so that it never became the summer equivalent of Christmas Lights.
There were many times I failed, mostly because I had been a focused-on-other-more-important-things-teenager. Every time he would make me go back outside and he would show me the correct way. Of course I would roll my eyes, confirmed I knew how to do it, and the promise of doing it right the next time.
Which I didn’t.
This morning while watering my hoop-house, I found the garden hose just tossed right inside the door. Gerrr, it had been a clear sign of a teen-aged boy. I untangled the hose and wrapped it up the proper way. THEN, I stretched out just what I needed and watered. I muttered and rolled my eyes the entire time.
Tomorrow, my son is going to get a lesson on the proper way to roll a hose up. I am Art Trelstad’s daughter.
Happy Father’s Day to the best dad ever…..p.s…….It really was the goulash.
