International Silence

Jinkies, this was a hard one. I again pulled another seed from my can. I am not sure what is more upsetting, the subject or the fact that my seed can is dwindling? So….here goes nothing.

International Silence

International Silence, yeah right.  The day they make that happen will probably be the day the last drop of the last remaining iceberg hits the ocean currents.  It will be the day when the trees have long since shriveled and dried up.  Any remaining leaf litter will be found in a children’s picture book at a building whose purpose was lost many generations ago. 

International silence will be on a day when the last bird is swallowed up by a dust storm that is inflamed and corrosive.  The clouds will scarcely exist.  Stinging rains only fall over empty mountain tops. 

Will there be an International Silence when we finally figure out why women can no longer have babies and the food we eat poisons us as opposed to cures us?  Will the wells be able to quench our thirst?

A proclamation of International Silence being asked by the young and hip because noise pollution is just another form of human pollution.  Yet those that count, continuously turn a deaf ear.

After all the president’s men have exhausted their own fowl words of falsehoods reminding mankind, “There is nothing to be afraid of.  It isn’t really happening.” A form of International Silence will begin.

If you stand on a soapbox and declare to all those around yet no one listens.  There is no change.  Life continues just the same.  That is International Silence.
